Gratitude Practice 2021 Day 346: “Between The World And Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates
Grateful for this book and HBO special...especially inside the context of this year. I probably read twenty books last year and many of them focused on race, civil rights, feminism, equity, diversity, leadership, and justice...but THIS book...this book...changed me forever.
Grateful for the HBO adaptation, website, podcast and extras noted in the link below. THIS is an EXCELLENT resources that I can not recommend enough. Really well done. Very honest. Very timely. Very thought provoking. Very uncomfortable as I swim in my a pool of privilege...but critical and powerful and needfully uncomfortable as it should be.
Today….Just gratitude to be learning and un-learning. Grateful for the generous kindness, patience, tolerance and endless grace shown to me by those far too often who should not have too as my well intended best efforts fumble yet often offend. Grateful to be consciously trying and clawing towards a deeper critical awareness of how I show up in the world. Hoping daily for greater intention and earnestly seeking to understand the deeper and greater layers and intersectionality that I do not natural notice or understand because I am white and educated. Grateful for inspiring texts and resources that help bridge information gaps and develop knowledge and are helping me make better sense of these super critical things.
