Gratitude Practice 2021 Nov 13: Sacred Saturday Sunshine

One of the best gifts of "the global pandemic experience" has been condensed,

concentrated and consecrated family time. It was during a year of crazy lockdown that our little trio really discovered the medicinal power of seeking after sunshine on the foothills that surround our home. Utah is an absolutely beautiful place and our sun drenched adventure along the Bonneville ShoreLine Trail today filled each of our souls and provided the exact elixir we needed. Perfect crisp weather, endless November sunshine and wide open spaces with the two halves of my whole heart made for a soul nourishing mind clearing afternoon. Exactly what I needed. I love wandering around this hilltop that provides a perch for overlooking the bedroom community of my childhood and the sprawling city I now call home. Wandering this trail somehow settles my soul and always helps me make sense of complicated complex contradictions. Always grateful to enter this peaceful place in one state of mind and exit it feeling more steady and ready and capable to keep plowing forward.

Lots of buzz over the last year about preparation for unknown future perilous times. BLECH! I think navigating a global pandemic will do that for a civilization. I'm grateful for this new perspective and shift in thinking and the way it's changing and refining my needs and wants list. Each time I exit a trail and as we crawl back into our car at the conclusion of another adventurous afternoon the more confident I become that all l really need is my brilliant companion Burke holding my right hand and my unstoppable Sarah Kate holding my left. Come what may...and boy oh boy has it come...the three of us are going to be just fine.

Today, I'm extra grateful for my little family, my happy little trio, and the life we are creating. I'm grateful for new found clarity and determined resolve. I am grateful for the hard that in time always becomes holy. And I am grateful to know in my bones that these two people and a whole lotta time spent on sun drenched hilltop is pretty much the answer to it all.
