Gratitude Practice 2024 April 25: The Best $3.50 of 2024.

Tiny hands. Today, we decided Sarah Kate earned a full “Hookie Day” after the last few months of cancer craziness. We spent the day doing many of her favorite things and the clear highlight was the $3.50 we spent on a set of tiny hands. Little did I know that this silly purchase would quickly become the best money I've spent all year. Instant laughter burst out of my girl for a solid hour and I could not be more grateful. Her laugh is akin to fresh air and it fills me with deep joy. Tiny hands are completely absurd and somehow make all things way more fun. I highly recommend all families have a pair.

Tonight, I'm grateful for the chance to spend a full day hanging out with my kid…Hookie Days are the best kind of days. Grateful to have enough energy to make most of it happen…and for the midday half time nap I  needed to finish strong.

Grateful for the well deserved Hookie Day after the last several months of uncomfortable have to’s and not now’s and maybe later’s. Grateful for her patience, for her brilliant mind, for her big heart and for her funny sense of humor. Grateful for how she has navigated the last several months like a champ and for the growth and maturity and development she has experienced. Grateful she is not afraid to ask the big questions and for how she is wrestling with the not so fun answers. Grateful for how she is always up for adventures and that she still wants to be my wingman. Grateful for how she can take a pair of tiny plastic hands and create hours of endless fun. I am forever grateful that I get to be her mom and for the way she is teaching and changing me. Grateful for the healing that I have experienced as being her mom has and is mending some deep wounds. Grateful for the gritty resilience she is acquiring and the strong young woman she is becoming. I hope we always find joy and laughter in silly things like tiny hands and Hookie Days and I'm forever grateful for the memories we created today.
