Gratitude Practice 2023 Nov 8: Pink Sneaks
Every so often it becomes time to swap out the old reliable sneakers for a new pair of kicks. My last pair of trusty respectable conservative Nikes have literally run their course and will now be transitioned to dependable yard work shoes. The shoe buying ritual has comensed this fall and it has become time to purchase a new pair of trainers. Nothing…and I mean nothing has brought me as much joy as purchasing this new silly pair of bright pink sneaks. Comfortable. Supportive. Obnoxiously bright and I love them. Nothing subtle and yet everything is perfect. You just can't be anything but happy when wearing bright pink sneakers. It's the pop of unexpected color that I like the most and they feel as good as they look. And no…for those who are curious…I am not seven years old….I am forty-seven years old and bright pink shoes are completely appropriate. As I inch my way toward the big 50 I have no desire to be tasteless or tacky but you better believe I'm going full Technicolor all the way and intend to have fun throughout the process. Grateful for the various options that were available…the steady black…the expected gray…the blendability of blue…and then zowie… PINK perfection. Grateful for whoever designed these beautiful pink sneaks. I wonder if they considered the happiness their bold color choice would bring to a middle aged woman in the shoe section at Kohl's…and should they be available in lime, tangerine or sunburst you better believe I'm grabbing a pair.
