Gratitude Practice 2020 Day 313: The Costco Hot Dog

Every once in a while….and I'm talking maybe like two times a year...I indulge in a Costco hot dog and when I do... WOW...I have ZERO regrets. Grateful to have scratched the 2020 hotdog itch tonight. What is it about this quick on the go meal tucked carefully inside the arena of bulk sized perceived bargains. Why so satisfying? Why?

With each delicious bite it became clear to me that it has to be the combo that makes the magic. It's the hotdog itself paired with the fluffy chewy bun and then delicately enhanced with a squirt of ever faithful tangy bright yellow mustard. Always mustard but never ketchup because...ew ketchup...and because well, I'm classy like that. These three separate items can clearly hold their own independently but when merged together and enjoyed as the grand finale for completing the routine shopping...and all for the very affordable price of $1.85…well, its nothing short of perfection.

Grateful to have fed my whole family for less than 7 bucks...BAM!

Grateful for the ease, the accessibility and what appears to be an endless supply…. because, I mean...you are at Costco, right?

Grateful to know this delicacy is always there for me even as I rarely go for it. Just knowing I could snag this tasty wonder whenever I make a run for replacement garbage bags or laundry detergent or way to many vitamins than I think I will ever really need…well, it just feels real real good and is perhaps the epitome of gluttony and American comfort.

So, tonight...God bless America and God bless American consumerism and God bless Costco for facilitating my very rare but very real hotdog needs.
