Gratitude Practice 2017 Day #2: When Life Mimics Art and Vice-a-Versa

This morning, I finished rewatching the first season of Stranger Things while completing the morning routine. Far too early for any respectable adult to be watching Netflix but it's just such an excellent image to all things 1980 and my childhood and I needed to see the ragged gang of misfit boys and their beloved 11 defeat the demogorgon and reclaim not just their community but their Mikey and their self respect ...the rocks and the sling shot in the classroom ...I mean there is no better TV...ever! Best part was when my grown up work day began with an early morning meeting at a local middle school to discuss a tricky kid issue with the Vice Principal. I drove up and walked into the school which was a sea of ripe 12 year olds all toting backpacks and clustered in friend groups where social curiosity and personal insecurity and a desire to stick it to the man oozed freely....I mean you could swim in it. And in a flash, I was back... right there...the 12 year old me searching for my wingmen and ready for battle. What are the chances...it was everything I had to not sneak around the corners suspicious of everyone and everything ready to avenge and then eat a lot of chocolate pudding and eggos. I had to consciously remind myself that I was a grown up and TV is silly make believe. It was trippy and fun and totally fuel by chronic sleep deprivation and we are now primed and ready for season two…oh and...Wynonna Rider for President! And Hopper for VP!
