Gratitude Practice 2016 Nov 2: Adults Who Work with Kids
Part of my job includes working with a variety of community organizations that support young people in our community. Tonight, I was blown away by both the talent of a group of teens and young adult film makers AND the grown ups who mentor, teach, inspire and rally around them. SpyHop is a non-profit in Salt Lake City whose mission is to mentor young people in the digital media arts to help them find their voice, tell their stories, and be empowered to affect positive change in their lives, their communities, and the world. These people do really good work and tonight I attended PitchNic which is their student film festival and I mean....WOW! Really impressive work done by really impressive people.
As I expected, I saw several former YouthCity kiddos...all of whom I chased around Liberty Park for a few years...all of whom are taller and lets be real much smarter and far more savvy than I ever dreamed of being...absolutely light up as they talked about their success and fulfillment within Spy Hop. These once kiddos are the best and the brightest I've worked with and as they inch their way becoming almost real adults....I'm not too worried about the future...they've got this...
Really so very impressed and grateful for both the dedicated educators and the resources that are made available to the youth of our city. I feel blessed every day that I get to do what I do...and I get paid for it. Really grateful for the incredible people I work with at YouthCity on a daily basis. My team...the oh...so...cool adults who show up everyday and demonstrate what it means to be a good human...these people inspire me...these people are the change makers...and I feel grateful to watch this magic unfold.
