Gratitude Practice 2015 Day #23: Stillness

Tonight, I am grateful for the stillness that can be found when the tasks of the day have been done...or done enough.  When the house has been put to bed. Doors have been locked. Dished...addressed. Both husband and baby are fast asleep and I am engulfed by the stillness of the night. I am blessed with an abundance of lovely people, a fulfilling job, a giggling squishy chub of a baby, a smart and kind and good husband and yet I LOVE the stillness. I've never been much of a morning person and if I head to bed too early my brain switches into overdrive. So. At night, when those whom I love the most are happily snoozing and we have completed our night time rituals...I spend a little time with just me...some nights I paint...or read...or sew....or clean....or watch garbage television...or whatever self care is needed to put my world back to neutral. Stillness is not something I have always valued or recognized but it is now something I now appreciate more than ever.
