Gratitude Practice 2021 Nov 21: Besties Are The Best!

Grateful for these three little ladies and for their good to the core Mama's. These three have been besties since before pre-school and it was so fun watching them reconnect last night for an evening at the trampoline park followed by three cups of bright blue cotton candy ice-cream with marshmallows mixed in. Nothing says "I am six and I am sensational" more than these three laughing and running and chasing each other at the kid rave disguised as a Saturday night party at the trampoline park. These little friendships absolutely warm my female mama heart and I loved sitting at the table with them as they chatted about school and recess and friends and birthday parties. They swapped silly poop jokes and reminisced about the good old Pre-K days. It was an enchanting exchange as they carefully and eagerly listened to each other not wanting to miss any tiny details.

Fast forward a few years and their classic childhood ice cream flavors will be replaced with baskets of corn chips, yummy salsa and icy diet cokes. The conversation topics will naturally elevate but the basic themes will remain the same. Talk of playdates will be replaced with boy friends and girl friends romantic ups and downs. Chatter about recess will be replaced with long weekend road trips and office politics and career challenges. When I'm honest the giggling about poop jokes will always be in play and in time the woes of menstruation, childbirth and menopause will be added in. Nothing sweeter than genuine connections between female friendships at all phases of life. Grateful for how they are literally clinging to each other and I hope they never let go.

Best part of these little besties is my connection and friendship with their sweet mom's. Raising daughters, teaching daughters, loving daughters, correcting and disciplining daughters, redirecting daughters, and being inspired by daughters...is serious business and I could not be more grateful for the support and collaboration and friendship I share with Stefanie and Susan. I could not ask for better companions in this joy filled journey.

Grateful for tender connections with my tribe of female friends. These kindred spirits are what life is all about. Grateful for the women I cling to throughout all life adventures. For those who love me...even when I am hard to love. For those who simultaneously boost and prop me and anchor and ground me. For those who say all of the hard, honest and needed words...for those who help clear up thinking errors and clarify missed and buried details... especially when I don't want to hear them. Grateful for the late night heart wrenchers and the silly memes that bounce between our smartphones.

I am forever grateful for the strong, wise, kind and loving women in my orbit and how we literally cling to each other throughout the holy, happy, hard and harrowing adventures of mothering daughters and being women.
