Gratitude Practice 2021 Nov 11: Inside Out

Forever grateful for this endlessly creative film. Always impressed and inspired by this kind of compelling storytelling that makes complicated concepts and emotions practical, relatable and understandable. Every time I watch this movie I discover something new and I love how my kid often refers to her core memories when we do both simple tasks and experience the big fun adventure days. Grateful for this powerful tool and how it's helping our family talk and learn about emotional intelligence and regulation. In this film joy, sadness, disgust, fear and anger are successfully embodied in relatable and memorable characters who work together, depend on each other and learn from each other...each operating independently and yet forever connected. Boom! What an interesting concept! Really wish I had been given a way to talk about these big feelings and how they interact when I was a kid.

As both a mom and a professional kid wrangler, I'm super concerned about and dedicated to helping kids find words for all of the complex stuff they are swimming through. So many big big feelings swirl inside the developing human brain and all compounded by a sideways world surviving a global pandemic. Yikes! Really hope the big creatives working at Disney and Pixar are working on a sequel. Wouldn't it be helpful to unpack and add a few new characters to the team. Would sure love to see the Pixar version of disappointment, rage, dispondance, relief, grit, excitement, contentment and grace. Grateful for the big thinkers and feelers who successfully created such a delightful and informative movie one that our family plans to enjoy and learn from for years to come.
