Gratitude Practice 2023 Nov 19: Soup & Siblings
Tonight, three fifths of the Robinson siblings and their families gathered for a soup and bread fest at our home. Not all of the locals could attend because pesky germs just won't quit. Grateful for rain checks and plans for our next gathering once all who are sick are healed. Grateful for lots of good food and laughs with really good people. Grateful for the ritual of sharing legendary family stories of childhood and adolescence…some tales tend to be more factual than others…but all are shared with laughter and reflection and shared anticipation. Grateful for my brothers and their good wives, for my nieces and nephews and their new spouses, and for their children and the hope of more to come. Grateful for the way my adult people love my kid and for the squeals and laughs they share together even as they are generations apart.
Grateful for three super tasty pots of soup…brimming with delicious texture and flavor and nourishment. Each pot, lovingly prepared and as different and dynamic and impressive as the people who made them. Grateful for homemade cookies made by the newest married niece who continues to beam and glow and ooze with marriage bliss. Grateful for loaves of homemade bread and plates of pretty cheese…because this is the way of our people. Grateful for multiple generations merged together by DNA and shared experience and memories and meaning. Grateful for time and space and faith and work...and therapy. Grateful for growth and the ability to morph and change and adapt both independently and together. Grateful for soup and siblings…a perfect pairing for a cozy rainy November Sunday night.
